Kumquat Kiss

GLASSWARE: THRIFTED ROCKS GLASS

Whenever I go to my mom’s house for a night of cooking, it’s always a mystery as to what she’s got stocked in her refrigerator or liquor cabinet. Kumquats and elderflower gin this time around (she’s strictly a whiskey drinker), so I had to get a little creative with this one on the fly.

This concoction combines the zesty essence of kumquats with the floral notes of elderflower gin, complemented by the subtle warmth of ginger liqueur.

Ingredients:

  • ½ oz lime juice

  • 2 kumquats, halved

  • ½ oz honey syrup

  • 1½ oz elderflower gin

  • ½ oz ginger liqueur

  • garnish: kumquat slice, lime slice, and any fresh greens you can find (I used a fennel frond!)

Directions:

Add honey syrup, kumquats, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and muddle. Add gin and ginger liqueur. Shake with ice and double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish as desired.
